Reza Madadi out, Jorge Masvidal in against Michael Chiesa at UFC on Fox 8
UFC lightweight Reza Madadi has been forced out of his upcoming bout against TUF winner Michael Chiesa at UFC on Fox 8 due to visa issues. Strikeforce veteran Jorge Masvidal now steps onto the card, which takes place July 27 at the KeyArena in Seattle.
Masvidal recently made his UFC debut on the last Fox card with a victory over Tim Means. The Strikeforce, Bellator and SRC veteran made his MMA debut in 2003 and fought extensively before joining the UFC. Over the course of his career, he has picked up victories over former IFL champion Ryan Schultz, former SRC champion Satoru Kitaoka and former Elite XC champion K.J. Noons.
Chiesa will be looking to keep his professional record clean. The 25-year-old fighter has won his first nine bouts. Last year, he reached the finals of the 15th season of “The Ultimate Fighter” and defeated Al Iaquinta to take the season title. Following the show, Chiesa picked up another victory over Anton Kuivanen at UFC 157.
In the main event of UFC on Fox 8, UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson will defend his title against John Moraga. Also on the bill, top welterweight contenders Rory MacDonald and Jake Ellenberger will square off.
