Kanako Murata, the former All Japan wrestling champ that made a pro MMA debut in RIZIN last year, is confirmed to fight in Pancrase 286.
In her fifth pro MMA bout, held on December 29th of last year, Murata tasted her first defeat against Rin Nakai.
For Murata, who usually fights at 115 lbs & under, Nakai was just too big.
But after the fight, in front of the fans, Nakai said to Murata, “Why don’t you fight for Pancrase?”
And, it seems like Murata decided to follow Nakai’s suggestion.
According to RIZIN CEO Nobuyuki Sakakibara, “This year, Murata wants to fight in various promotions and also fight in a place where she can reach to (the rematch against) Nakai.”
Murata tweeted, “I am looking forward to fight in the cage. I will be prepared for this!”
Pancrase is expected to announce her opponent in the coming days.
