PANCRASE 273 – 12/13/2015: Kanbe vs Musashi for Light-Flyweight Title
On last week Wednesday, the signing ceremony of the upcoming light-flyweight title fight was held at the Pancrase office in Tokyo.
Mitsuhisa Sunabe relinquished this belt to concentrate on getting a strawweight title, and now, Kento Kanbe and Yukitaka Musashi will be fighting for this vacant light-flyweight championship.
Kanbe is an 18-year old bright up and comer from team ALLIANCE founded by UFC / PRIDE veteran Tsuyoshi "T.K." Kosaka. An undefeated in nine pro bouts, and currently sitting at the number one spot in Pancrase light-flyweight ranking. Musashi is 28-year old. He did lose first pro bout via split decision, but since then, Musashi has posted nearly perfect record of 7 wins and 1 draw.
Kanbe sounded very confident, "I have to win otherwise the Japanese MMA won't shift to a good direction, so I am going to win. If you come and see this fight then you will know. I am the one that is going to be the champion." But it doesn't mean he is not giving any respect to Musashi, "He is good at constructing his fight. Very strong fighter. However, I am stronger."
Although the youngster was provoking, Musashi was calm, "I am going to put up a fight that would leave a mark in the history of Pancrase, and I am going to be the champion. Kanbe is young, he is on a momentum, and I think our fight style matches well. I know this will be different from a three-round bout. I know I have to do my fight for the entire five rounds."
