In the headliner of Pancrase 270, Andy Main basically shut down Nam Phan with his superior wrestling / grappling skills and became King of Pancrase at the featherweight division.
Phan attempted all kinds of offensive moves but Main was just bigger and better.
A 26-year old from New Jersey controlled the fight from the opening round.
Phan initiated a striking battle first though, but Main calmly clinched. Main executed a leg-trip and scored a takedown. Nam found a way to stand back up but Main quickly took the back, and from there, continued to land fists and elbows. And, at the end of the round, Main slammed Phan to the canvas for a takedown.
In the second round, Phan started off by swinging left and right hooks followed by a right high kick. But again, Main clinched, and landed couple of knee shots to the body, then scored a take down.
Third round was all Main.
He took Phan's back. Locked in a figure-four around the body, landed series of hard shots. And at the same time, almost caught Phan in a rear naked choke and a twister.
In the fourth round, UFC veteran shot in but Main sprawled, then threw Phan down for a take down. And, Main quickly snapped on a triangle choke. Phan held for a bit but Main unleashed couple of elbow shots to the head to lock in deeper. Phan tapped and it was all over.
