The UFC officially announced a light heavyweight match between fighters looking for redemption. Ovince St. Preux will take on former Strikeforce champion Rafael Cavalcante. The bout will be part of UFC Fight Night 56, which takes place Nov. 8 at the Ginasio Municipal Tancredo Never in Uberlandia, Brazil.
After a 5-1 run in Strikeforce, St. Preux moved to the UFC in 2013. After scoring a technical decision in his debut, he won his next three fights via stoppage over Cody Donovan, Nikita Krylov and former MFC champion Ryan Jimmo. However, in his most recent fight, he suffered his first loss against TUF champion Ryan Bader.
“Feijao” defeated Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal for the Strikeforce light heavyweight title in 2011. He dropped the fight in his first defense against Dan Henderson. Since dropping that belt, Cavalcante’s career has gone downhill. He has gone 2-3 and been suspended for a positive banned substance test. In his most recent outing, he had virtually nothing for Bader and dropped a one-sided decision.
The UFC has not announced a main event for the fight night card yet.
