Fighters Only magazine has reported that UFC heavyweight Chieck Kongo hassigned a new six-fight contract with the UFC. According to the report, thecontract will keep Kongo with the promotion until 2012 if it runs its fullcourse.

Kongo made his UFC debut back at UFC 61 in 2006. He has not fought anywhereelse since. During his time with the promotion he has scored impressivevictories over Pride FC legend Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and striker AntoniHardonk. In total he has won eight fights under the Zuffa umbrella and droppedonly four.

In his most recent fight, he used a persistent ground game to take a stoppagevictory over veteran Paul Buentello. The win was Kongo’s first after droppingback-to-back fights to former champion Frank Mir and Cain Velasquez.

Kongo trains at the Wolfslair gym with fellow UFC fighters Michael Bisping andQuinton “Rampage” Jackson.
