text and photos by Marcelo Alonso After beating Dutchman Alsitair Overeem, American Quinton Jackson and Jiu-Jitsu black belts Rog?rio ‘Minotouro’ and Ricardo Arona to conquerthe Pride GP Middleweight champion belt, Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua received his Jiu-Jitsu black belt from masters Nino Schiembri and Cristiano Marcelo. ‘I have a history in Jiu-Jitsu, I trained with ‘Shogun’ everyday and I can tell he is really a tough black belt’ guaranteed Schembri and Cristiano Marcelo. ‘After applying an omoplata and passing the guard of the 4x Abu Dhabi champion, I think there is no doubt that Chute Boxe team has the best ground technique for Vale-Tudo in the world today’ said Cristiano. Humble as always, the champion ‘Shogun’ celebrated a lot his new conquest. ‘I did a lot of private classes with Nino ‘Elvis’ lately and it helped me a lot to improve my technique. I think today is the happiest day of my life. I have avenged Wanderlei and my brother, knocked out Arona, got the PRIDE championship belt, a black belt from Nino and secured a record of 4×2 for Chute Boxe over BTT in Pride’ said the champion in Saitama Arena lockeroom.
