With Rafael WerneckScheduled to take place on May 28th and 29th in Long Beach, California, the ADCC 2005 6th Submission Wrestling World Championships will feature a brand new rule that is intended to punish athletes who eventually ‘fake’ fights during the most important submission tournament in the world. To know what the competitors think about this new rule, and the promoter?s decision to allow only one fighter from each team to compete in the Absolute category, we caught up with Roan ‘Jucao’ Carneiro, Brazil Trials champion in the 77kg weight class. ‘It is a good rule, because that is how the fight should be fought. However, regarding the absolute category rule, I don’t like it very much because it is going to be more difficult for the lighter fighters to be selected to fight’ says Jucao. So far, Roan ‘Jucao’ Carneiro is joined in his weight class and may be fighting the current ADCC champion Marcelo Garcia, also from Brazil, Cameron Earle from the US, Martin Lidqvist (Sweden) and Gavin Kulper (Australia). The Japanese Trials are scheduled for March 20th and the majority of the general invitations are expected right after that.
