PIC: Former NFL football players Westbrook and Bunch go at it – Westbrook working the choke.Cleveland, OH – Westbrook won. That sentence alone will satisfy every fan, whether you love or hate KOTC. Former NFL stars Michael Westbrook and Jarred Bunch did a good job for relatively inexperienced headliners, with most of this fight being a takedown and defense war between these two. Once Westbrook got Bunch down Westbrook outlasted his heavier opponent and found a rear choke he ended with only five seconds left in the first round. Also on the card Joey Villasenor defended his Middleweight belt, Geoge Gurgel/Jason Ireland took fight of the night, Eric Esch/Mike Buchkovich will go down in history as one of the worst fights in history of any sport (because it sure wasn?t MMA), and Dan Bobish put away Ruben Villareal. Surprisingly the ground fighters made up a much larger percentage of the card than KOTC is usually known for. Both Thiago Alvarez and Paulo Dantas of American Top Team won asdid Team Royce Gracie?s Buddy Clinton. Forrest Petz beat Krazy Horse with a forearm choke, James Lee picked up a rear choke, and the first three fights were mostly on the ground. Overall this show was solid and thankfully the Westbrook/Bunch fight showed skills that may convert some of the throngs of mainstream press present.
