The recent shuffle for UFC 147 left Cung Le without an opponent for UFC 148.However, that did not last long. MMAJunkie has reported that Le will not faceformer UFC middleweight title challenger Patrick Cote at the event, which takesplace July 7 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Le won the Strikeforce middleweight title with a technical knockout victoryover Frank Shamrock in 2008. Since then, he has spent a lot of time away fromthe fight game and gone only 1-2. In his last fight, he made his UFC debut andfell to former Pride FC middleweight champion Wanderlei Silva.

In 2008, Cote ended up with a shot at the UFC middleweight championship afterwinning four-straight fights in the UFC. However, in his title fight, hesuffered a serious knee injury and stayed out of action for almost two years. He returned and dropped back-to-back bouts and was shown the door. Since then,Cote has worked his way back to the UFC with four-straight wins on theindependent circuit including wins over UFC veterans Kalib Starnes and CraftonWallace.

In the main event of UFC 148, Anderson Silva will defend his middleweight titleagainst Chael Sonnen for the second time. Silva previously defeated Sonnen atUFC 117.
