UFC officials have announced a welterweight contest between Claude Patrick andJames Head. The fight will be part of UFC 149, which takes place July 21 at theScotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Patrick will try to get back on track after suffering his first UFC defeat atthe hands of Brian Ebersole at UFC 140. Prior to that, the Canadian had wonthree-straight bouts over Ricardo Funch, James Wilks and Daniel Roberts tobegin his UFC run.
Head made his UFC debut in 2011 after upsetting TUF veteran Gerald Harris on alocal show. In his debut, he submitted to Nick Ring. However, in his lastouting, he was able to pick up a UFC victory over Swedish fighter Papy Abedi.
Headlining UFC 149 is a featherweight title fight. Champion Jose Aldo willdefend his title against fast-rising prospect Erik Koch. Also on the card,former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua will takeon Thiago Silva.
