From FUEL TV:
LOS ANGELES, CA – The following arequotes from the "UFC Postfight Show on FUEL TV" about UFC ON FOX:DIAZ VS. MILLER. Jay Glazer hosted the show, with UFC veteran Kenny Florian andcurrent Lightweight Champion Benson Henderson offering analysis. Ariel Helwaniconducted exclusive postfight interviews backstage in New Jersey. Here’s someof what was said:
Kenny Florian on Nate Diaz vs. Jim Miller: "Everything Diaz was supposedto do, he did. He was able to take apart his opponent. The way the Diazbrothers fight, they take apart their opponents and tear you down. He didexactly what he was supposed to do."
Benson Henderson on Diaz’ fighting style: "He mixes it up great. He takeshis opponent’s will away from them. At the end of the fight they don't want tobe there in anymore. He does a lot of things great. But more than anything elseis his attitude. He is a fighter. He wanted to fight. He makes itemotional."
Florian on Diaz’ game: "Any time Jim Miller was able to get on his inside,Nate made a clinch for the inside. He was getting back on his feet andattacking in the submission hold."
Ariel Helwani asks Diaz how he prepares: "I put the work in man. I trainedhard. I have the best team in the world. I just went out there and fought how Itrained."
Helwani asks Diaz if the fight was what he expected: "I never know howit’s going to play out. I just train hard. I expect the worse and it justhappened."
Helwani asks Diaz at what point he knew he won: "The whole time I was kindof realizing, ‘ok, he's not hurting me,’ so I never was like, ‘this is it.’ Idid feel him start easing up after certain points. He socked me in the eyeright in the beginning, but as soon as I could see again I was ok."
Helwani asks Diaz what’s next: "Oh man, let’s get Ben Henderson. Let’sspeed up the process a little here and make that title fight happen. If not, whatever man, I don't know. I don't care what happens."
UFC President Dana White on Diaz: "I think the kid has always beentalented and the moving around was good for him. The way you get better is byfighting the best. He’s been fighting people at 55 and 70 and I mean this isworking out for him."
White on who Nate Diaz fights next: "Anthony [Pettis} is in that weirdspot. I just spoke to Diaz and he is going to wait and take the titleshot."
Joe Rogan on Diaz vs. Miller: "Nate Diaz solidified his position as one ofthe top lightweights in the world. He showed beautiful technical fighting. Hedid everything right in this fight and came out with a victory. I think he hitan even new height against Miller. He is really coming into his own."
Helwani asks Pettis if he would be ready to fight coming off a shoulder injury:"I will make sure I will be ready to fight in September. I haven’t had aclear shot to fight for the title yet, so I’ll be ready. I was supposed to geta title shot when I first got in and it didn't happen. Two years later I’mstill waiting for a title shot and I think I’m ready."
Florian on the performance of the night: "Performance of the night wasAlan Belcher. Not many people gave him a shot. He did everything he wassupposed to do. He had Palhares legs, not once, not five times, but every time."
Florian on Josh Koscheck vs. Johny Hendricks: "Johny Hendricks just lookedgreat and he threw some big bombs. This is the strongest I’ve seen himpunching. He was so technical out there. Hendricks was looking really sharp. They had some great bouts against the cage. I thought Koscheck had it, it wasreally close. Probably the biggest debate was the first round."
Henderson on Koscheck vs. Hendricks: "I agree [with Kenny Florian]. I hadthe edge going to Koscheck. I can see the arguments for Hendricks, but I wouldhave given it to Koscheck as well."
Helwani asks Hendricks why he thinks he won: "I had God on my side. I hadtough training these past few weeks. I was dealing with some tough stuff[bronchitis and mono]. My coaching team kept me tough."
White on Koscheck vs. Hendricks: "It was a close one. It was a really hardone to score. I had Koscheck winning the first round Hendricks wining thesecond. The third one was really a war."
Rogan on Koscheck vs. Hendricks: "Hendricks is for real. Both these menwent blow for blow. Koscheck landed some bombs. And Hendricks landed some bombson Koscheck. Hendricks proved himself with the elite of the elite. He is anoutstanding wrestler, two-time former champion and tonight we saw a great chinas well."
Henderson on Palhares vs. Belcher: "This is the last thing we ever thought- that it would go to the ground, but it’s Belcher who gets the victory. It wasreally Belcher who was more impressive on the ground. It comes to show how wellprepared he was. A lot of times when you fight a specialist in the area, youfreeze up. But you could tell he was prepared."
Florian on Palhares vs. Belcher: "The fight was won before they even gotin the octagon. You could see it with all the training Belcher had on the groundand you could see it against his fight with Palhares. This isn’t a guy who isjust trying to submit you, he is trying to break you. He is trying to breakyour leg. This guy has no mercy."
Florian on Barry vs. Johnson: "Both of these guys had big-time power. Itstarted really well with Barry. He had his moment on his feet. But you don'tlet Johnson get you up against the cage. Everything he threw seemed to hurtBarry. Those famous uppercuts really took out Barry. Barry could have donemore. He definitely improved, he had great power against Johnson and Johnsonhad great defense. But it also showed Pat’s weaknesses. He has some work todo."
Helwani asks Lavar Johnson about the fight against Pat Barry: "He was sofar away I didn't think he could shoot on me. We got into a scramble and hestarted attacking my legs. The whole time I knew exactly where he was hitting.Every so often he had to protect his guard and then it was time to finish him.And it was time to prove to the UFC and all those people out there that I amgood on the ground. I am a black belt."
Helwani asks Johnson where he stands after the victory: "Obviously, I wantto ask for a title shot. There is no road too fast to get to a title fight. This is what I’ve been asking for, what I’ve been talking about. I asked andthey kind of shrugged me off and I beat him on the ground. I don't see anybodyelse who is going in there and running through fighters and beating them. Ithink I’m in my prime and mentally I am ready for the biggest fight. I’m readytomorrow."
Henderson on Johnson’s victory: "No surprise he did what he always does.He takes people out in the first round. I wouldn’t mind him seeing him againstHunt."
