Two MMA fighters stepped into the Shoot Boxing's (SB) ringagain.
Lion Takeshi captured Shooto's world title twice, then fought in the DREAMfeatherweight title fight against the champion Hiroyuki Takaya. UndoubtedlyLion Takeshi is one of the best 145 lbs MMA fighters in Japan.
But for some reason he is insisting on fighting in Japan therefore not just MMAbut also he started to fight in the SB rules bout to be active and perhaps tomake his ends meet.
This is was his second SB rules bout. He defeated current SB Orient Pacificchampion Daiki Shishido in his first SB appearance back in November of lastyear, therefore, this time, he took on a current featherweight champion HiroakiSuzuki.
This was an even fight from the beginning to the end. And this was not just aclose fight but also the ending was very dramatic. At the very end of thirdround, Suzuki came in forward with punches, and Lion, with corner on his back, threw a right hook. This one landed squarely on Suzuki's chin but at the sametime, a youngster from Striking Gym Ares also landed a right hook to Lion'schin.
Both went down hard but Suzuki stood back up first. Lion also stood up but itwas obvious that he didn't know where he was. At the same time when bell rangto end the third round, the referee waved his hands to stop the fight.
It was like out of the "Rocky" movies.
Another former world champion in Shooto, Mamoru, is actually 4-1 in SB.
He was fighting in the US for a while so he did take a long break from SB butcame back very strong in February with a win over Kazuyuki Fushimi and told thereporters, "I beat most top rankers in SB so I want that SB beltnow."
Nagulachun Masa M16 heard this comment and stood up to "stop Mamoru"and this fight was also a hard fought bout.
But at the end, Masa M 16 edged out Mamoru on the judges’ score cards. Masa M16 was simply more busy attacking and also, he defended most of Mamoru'stakedown and throw attempts.
