There were more than few very interesting things about thisBATTLE MIX show held in Sapporo last week.

Sapporo is the northern capital of Japan located in the Hokkaido prefecture.

The name of this show is Battle Mix and its not a Shooto show because half ofthe fights in this show were held under the kick boxing rules. However, thepromoter had to bring in Shooto referees and officials all the way from Tokyo.

In the headliner of the show, 42-year old fighter from Sapporo named TatsuyaYamamoto defeated Shooto veteran Takeshi "HEAT" Sato in a convincingmanner. Yamamoto began fighting pro MMA back in 2007 and he is now on a 6-fightwin streak, with pro MMA record of 7-2, yet Shooto still hasn't give him anopportunity to fight in Shooto show in Tokyo. Considering the thin budget ofrecent Sustain promoted Shooto shows in Tokyo, maybe the flight cost from Sapporowas little too much of a burden for the promoter.

Besides Yamamoto, there were three other fighters from Hokkaido fought in thisshow and they were Keisuke Kurata, Isao Yoshida and Hidekazu Asakura, and allof them are either in the 30's or 40's. Yoshida is 35, Kurata is 32 and Asakurais 43 years old.

This means not many young MMA pro fighters are being raised in the Hokkadidoarea.

That is mainly probably because not many MMA shows are held in Hokkaido. Infact, this Battle Mix is the only pro MMA show out there and they do maybe oneor two shows per year.
