Worlds 2012

The most prestigious BJJ event in the Universe is 5 weeks away. The Worlds 2012 takes place on May 31, June 1,2 & 3 at the Cal State Long Beach Pyramid in Long Beach, Ca. The top Academies are already in the middle of their preparation for the event with special camps scheduled and on going training. Top fighters have yet to sign up but we know that tops like Rodolfo Vieira, Andre Galvao, Mendes Bros, Bruno Malfacine, Bernardo Faria, Alexandre Riberio and Marcus "Buchecha" should be there. Already signed up list includes Bernardo Pitel, Japan's Takuto Kako and Tetsuya Kondo. The questions now involve the presence of Marcelo Garcia: will he return to defend yet another title? Roger Gracie: Will he to put his MMA training aside and prepare for a World title run that may involve a match against current Absolute Champion Vieira?

Word is that Leozinho Vieira is planning a return to the World mats this year, and after watching him in ADCC last year one can certainly see that he is still a force to be reckoned with an a top medal contender. Another question is willl Rubens "Cobrinha" Charles compete? How damaged was his arm from the Pan and if so is he recovered enough to prepare and compete in 5 weeks? 

In the ladies divisions we can expect Gabi Garcia's presence along with teammate Luana Alzuguir. Gracie Humaita's Bia Mesquita and Checkmat's Michelle Nicollini should also be there. Where Kyra Gracie's plans for the Worlds dashed by the foot injury in the World Pro 2012? At this point wait and see is all we can do but with few weeks to go the answers to these questions will come soon
