In the main event George Sullivan knocked out UFC vet Greg Soto to take thewelterweight title Soto won in his last fight. Soto and Sullivan went toe-to-toe with Sullivan defending Soto’stakedowns well until a head kick followed by a right hook felled thebetter-known fighter at just over the two minute mark.
Much more one-sided Sean Santella took the vacant flyweight title with a quickrear-naked choke of Tuan Pham. Santellascored an early takedown and spent most of the short fight passing guard, oncehe did the choke was quick and decisive.
Defending welterweight champion Aljamian Sterling had the toughest fight of themain card against Casey Johnson. Johnsonin the first round held onto a triangle choke even after Sterling lifted himoff the mat and put him against the cage ala Hughes/Newton in UFC 34, thedifference being Sterling was conscious when he slammed Johnson and was able toescape. The second round was much moredominant as Sterling wore down Johnson en route to a rear-naked choke win.
