Flyweight prospect Naoki Inoue has announced his withdrawal from UFC Fight Night 117 due to an injury. His opponent Jenel Lausa could remain on the card against a new opponent. The event takes place Sept. 22 at the Saitama Super Arena outside of Tokyo.
Inoue came up in the Deep promotion before signing with the UFC earlier this year. He made his debut with a 10-0 record and took a decision victory over Carls John de Tomas at UFC Fight Night 111.
Lausa fell for the first time in nearly four years in his second UFC bout. He dropped a decision against Magomed Bibulatov at UFC 210. Prior to that, Lausa had picked up a victory in his promotional debut when he defeated Zhikui Yao at UFC Fight Night 101.
In the main event of UFC Fight Night 117, former UFC champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua will return to action against Ovince St. Preux. The bout is a rematch of their 2014 fight, which St. Preux won via first-round knockout.
