UFC Fight Night 76 has lost its co-main event (for the time being) as the Ultimate Fighting Championship heads to back to Ireland on October 24th. It was made public Wednesday that number three ranked heavyweight Stipe Miocic has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled bout against Ben Rothwell due to an undisclosed injury.
UFC officials are currently reviewing their options for a replacement.
Miocic was deeply apologetic on Twitter:

Miocic (13-2) rebounded from a December 2014 decision loss to former UFC heavyweight champ Junior dos Santos with a fifth round TKO win over Mark Hunt in May. The 33-year-old Ohio native is now 7-2 during his four-year run in the UFC.
Rothwell (35-9) is currently ranked number seven in the division and has reeled off three straight finishes in his last three outings. Following a third round TKO win over Brandon Vera in October 2013, Rothwell returned in September 2014 with a first round TKO finish of Alistair Overeem. “Big Ben” last fought in June of this year, submitting Matt Mitrione with a gogo choke in the first round.
UFC Fight Night 76 will emanate from Dublin’s 3Arena on October 24th and is headlined with a lightweight showdown between Dustin Poirier and Ireland’s own Joe Duffy. The event will stream live on UFC Fight Pass.
