UFC veteran Michael McDonald will finally make his Bellator MMA debut. He will take on Peter Ligier in a bantamweight bout. The fight will be the main event of Bellator 191, which takes place Dec. 15 at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle, England.
McDonald signed with Bellator last March after leaving the UFC. During his run in the Octagon, he went 6-3. After four fights for the promotion, he faced off against Renan Barao for the interim UFC bantamweight title but fell via fourth-round submission. Since that defeat, he went 2-2 with victories over Brad Pickett and Masanori Kanehara. In his last fight, he lost via first-round knockout against John Lineker.
Ligier holds an 8-1-1 professional record and has fought exclusively on the European circuit. Since drawing with Valentin Dechamps in 2015, the French fighter has won three-straight fights. In his last fight, he scored a decision victory over Alesandro Sasha Pirev.
Bellator 191 is also expected to feature the return of heavyweight veteran James Thompson who takes on UFC veteran Phil De Fries.
