Yancy Medeiros (13-4) has been pulled from his scheduled welterweight bout with Li Jingliang (11-4) later this month due to injury and is being replaced by promotional newcomer Bobby Nash (8-1). UFC officials announced the opponent change this week.
UFC on FOX 23 will be held from the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colo. on Jan. 28 and is headlined with a women’s bantamweight matchup between Valentina Shevchenko and Julianna Pena. The main card will broadcast live on FOX, with prelims airing on FOX Sports 1 and early prelims streaming on Fight Pass.
Nash is a 26-year-old Michigan native and is coming off a second-round knockout win over UFC vet Lewis Gonzalez at Global Knockout 7 this past August. And prior to that he scored a 40-second knockout win over Deray Davis at RFA 39 in June. Nash is currently riding a six-fight winning streak that includes four knockouts and one submission. “Nashty” trains out of Fuse MMA in Macomb, Mich.

The 28-year-old Chinese fighter is currently 3-2 inside the Octagon and has also posted wins over Dhiego Lima and David Michaud. Jingliang is a former Legend FC welterweight champion and has finished five of his 11 wins via submission and three via knockout.
