Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki return from their London debut to their home country of Poland with three title fights, Michal Materla defending the middleweight belt against Mamed Khalidov serving as the main event. KSW 33 takes place November 28th at the Tauron Arena in Krakow, Poland with a live broadcast on The Fight Network.
Mamed Khalidov is not only challenging Michal Materla for the middleweight belt, the former KSW light heavyweight champion is seeking to become the promotion’s first two-division champion. Khalidov won the light heavyweight belt in May 2009 while his first title defense was a draw against Ryuta Sakurai in December 2010, a loss to Jorge Santiago in March 2010 between those two KSW title fights having taken place in Sengoku had no effect on the belt status. After the draw to Sakurai Khalidov dropped to middleweight where he picked up ten wins in a row including wins over UFC vets Matt Lindland, Rodney Wallace, Jesse Taylor, and Kendall Grove while his most recent win was a unanimous decision over Brett Cooper last December. Materla took the belt in May 2012 with a majority decision over Jay Silva then defended it four times, the loss by KO in a rematch against Silva being a non-title fight. Materla also holds wins over Wallace and Grove while entering this bout on a three-fight win streak, his most recent being a TKO of Tomasz Drwal in May.
Karol Bedorf captured the then-vacant KSW heavyweight title with a TKO of Pawel Nastula at KSW 24 in September 2013 and enters this bout with a six-fight win streak crowning his 12-2 pro record. The downside is Bedorf has only fought twice in the past two years defending the belt against Rolles Gracie by TKO and Peter Graham in May. 16-7 Michal Kita only lost once in the past four years, a TKO loss to D.J. Linderman in May 2013 which he avenged with a unanimous decision over Linderamn six months later. This fight marks Kita’s KSW debut with his most recent win being a TKO of Mike Wessel in March 2014.
