Last weekend at UFC on Fox 12, Jorge Masvidal and Bobby Green both scored impressive victories. The UFC wasted little time and matched the pair for a fight at UFC 178, which takes place Sept. 27 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Masvidal will be coming off a decision victory over Daron Cruickshank. The Sengoku, Bellator and Strikeforce veteran finally made his UFC debut in 2013. So far inside the promotion, he has gone 4-1 with his lone defeat coming against Rustam Khabilov at UFC Fight for the Troops 3. Before joining the UFC, Masvidal picked up signature wins over former IFL champion Ryan Schultz, former Sengoku champion Satoru Kitaoka and former Elite XC champion KJ Noons.
Green fought for a variety of promotions before signing with Strikeforce in 2011. He went 4-1 with the promotion and joined the UFC after the merger. Inside the UFC, he has picked up four-straight upset victories over Jacob Volkmann, James Krause, Pat Healy and former Strikeforce champion Josh Thomson.
In the main event of UFC 178, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones will defend his title against Strikeforce World Grand Prix champion Daniel Cormier.
