Legacy Fighting Alliance will hold “LFA 5: Edwards vs. Townsend” on Feb. 24 from 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colo. The event will broadcast live on AXS TV and feature a matchup between top lightweight prospects Marcus Edwards (12-4) and Adam Townsend (16-4) in the main event.
Edwards is a 27-year-old fighter out of Denver boasting five wins by knockout and six by submission. He is also considered the number one lightweight in the Midwest. “Bad Intentions” is coming off a 12-second TKO win over Billy Christianson in October at Legacy FC 60. Prior to that he stopped LT Nelson with a first-round submission at Prize FC 12 in November 2015. Though coming up short on both accounts, Edwards has past experience in the cage against notable UFC vets Pat “Bam Bam” Healy and Efrain Escudero.
Townsend is a 28-year-old East Tennessee native who has fought everywhere from featherweight to middleweight. He’s currently the number two ranked welterweight and middleweight in the Southeast and is coming off a first-round TKO win over UFC vet Junior Assuncao at Art of War FC 18 last July. That fight was at 170 pounds. And in March of last year “Prime Time” fought at middleweight when he knocked out Justin Hartley at Apex Fights 10. Nine of Townsend’s career wins are by submission and three have been by knockout.
Stay tuned as more fights will be announced for LFA 5 in the coming weeks. Legacy Fighting Alliance was established in 2016 as the merging of two great regional MMA shows, Legacy Fighting Championship and Resurrection Fighting Alliance.
