Neil Magny, Kelvin Gastelum, Andre Fili and Polo Reyes each earned bonuses for their performances at UFC Fight Night 78 Saturday night in Monterrey, Mexico.
Magny (17-4) defeated Gastelum (11-2) via split decision in the main event in a back-and-forth bout that saw several great exchanges and both guys get rocked. Many argued the decision should have gone to Gastelum. Either way, the crowd was entertained over the five rounds and the two welterweights took home an extra $50,000 for “fight of the night”.
Fili (15-3) opened up the Fox Sports 1 preliminary card with a first round knockout win over Mexico’s Gabriel Benitez. That performance earned Fili a $50,000 bonus and improved his UFC record to 3-2. It is the first “performance of the night” bonus for the 25-year-old Team Alpha Male featherweight.
Reyes (4-1) picked up the other “performance of the night” bonus for his first round knockout of Paraguay’s Cesar Arzamendia on the night’s UFC Fight Pass preliminary card. Reyes is a new addition to the UFC’s lightweight division and this was the Mexican fighter’s promotional debut.
