Heavyweight Luis Henrique (10-3, 1 NC) will welcome 2012 Olympic wrestler Arjan Bhullar (6-0) to the octagon for the first time at UFC 216 in September. The promotion recently announced the matchup.
UFC 216 will be held Sept. 9 from Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The bout order for the card has not yet been finalized and a main event is still to be determined.
Henrique is currently 2-2 inside the octagon. The 23-year-old Brazilian made his promotional debut in Dec. 2015 at UFC on Fox 17 but was stopped by the hard-hitting Francis Ngannou in the second round. Henrique bounced back after that by submitting his next two opponents; Dmitry Smoliakov in July 2016 and Christian Colombo last November. Henrique last fought in March at UFC 209 but was on the wrong side of a TKO finish via Marcin Tybura.
Bhullar competed in the 2012 Olympics for Canada and made his pro MMA debut two years later. Currently undefeated, Bhullar has been competing on the Canadian regional circuit and has finished three of his six wins via knockout. He is the former BFL heavyweight champion and last fought this past April when he won a unanimous decision over Joe Yager at Battlefield Fight League 48 in Coquitlam, B.C.
