Joseph Benavidez to continue flyweight campaign against Ben Nguyen
Joseph Benavidez will return to action against Ben Nguyen in a flyweight fight. The bout will be part of UFC Fight Night 110, which takes place June 11 at the Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand.
Benavidez is currently riding a six-fight winning streak that dates back to 2014. In fact, since 2010, he has only lost two fights. Unfortunately for him, both of those losses came in title fights against current champion Demetrious Johnson. During his time in the UFC, Benavidez has scored victories over Jussier Formiga, TUF winner Tim Elliott, former Bellator champion Zach Makovsky and Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo.
Nguyen earned a shot in the UFC on the back of seven-straight wins mostly on the Australian circuit. He won his first two Octagon bouts over Alp Ozkilic and Ryan Benoit. Nguyen then suffered his first defeat since 2010 when he fell to Louis Smolka at UFC Fight Night 91. However, he recently got back on the winning track with a decision victory over Geane Herrera last November.
In the main event of UFC Fight Night 110, former K-1 World Grand Prix champion and New Zealand native Mark Hunt will take on Derrick Lewis.
