Jorge Masvidal finally gets fight, matched with Bobby Green

Strikeforce lightweight Jorge Masvidal

After doing the media rounds complaining about not getting a fight, Jorge Masvidal finally has new contest on the calendar. Multiple media sources have reported that the ATT product will meet former King of the Cage champion Bobby Green at Strikeforce's upcoming Nov. 3 show.

Masvidal is 3-1 in Strikeforce since resigning with the promotion in 2011. His lone defeat came when he challenged champion Gilbert Melendez for the lightweight title. The fight turned into a grueling five-round affair. Over the course of his career, "Gamebred" has defeated former Elite XC champion K.J. Noons, former SRC champion Satoru Kitaoka and former IFL champion Ryan Schultz.

Green has held both the King of the Cage junior welterweight and lightweight titles. He is currently riding a four-fight winning streak that includes back-to-back victories over James Terry and Matt Ricehouse under the Strikeforce banner. His first taste of the national scene came in 2009 when he put a scare into Dan Lauzon on the undercard of Affliction "Day of Reckoning."

Strikeforce's Nov. 3 offering was titled "Cormier vs. Mir." The featured bout was set to be a contest between Strikeforce world grand prix winner Daniel Cormier and former UFC champion Frank Mir. However, earlier this week, news broke that Mir has pulled out of the fight with an injury. A replacement fighter has not been announced.
