The UFC has announced that bantamweight contender John Lineker will return to action against Marlon Vera. The bout has been added to UFC Fight Night 119, which takes place Oct. 28 at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Lineker will be looking to get back on track after dropping his last fight against former UFC champion TJ Dillashaw. The defeat snapped a six-fight winning streak that dated back to 2014. Lineker began his UFC run at flyweight, but after continual struggles with cutting weight, he moved up to bantamweight in 2015. At the new weight, he has gone 4-1 with victories over Francisco Rivera, Rob Font, Michael McDonald and John Dodson.
Following a stint on the first season of “The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America” Vera began his UFC run with a 1-2 stretch. However, since falling against Davey Grant in 2016, he has bounced back with three-straight victories. At UFC Fight Night 101, Vera took a decision over Guangyou Ning. He returned last March and sent Brad Pickett into retirement with a third-round knockout. In his last fight, Vera defeated Brian Kelleher in the first round at UFC on Fox 25.
In the main event of UFC Fight Night 119, former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida returns to action against Derek Brunson in a middleweight bout.
