Jimy Hettes vs. Charles Rosa added to UFC Fight Night 81 in Boston

Jimy Hettes

Jimy HettesA featherweight match-up between Charles Rosa (10-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) and Jimy Hettes (11-3 MMA, 3-3 UFC) has been added to January’s UFC Fight Night 81 card in Boston.

Rosa posted the news on social media over the weekend.

Rosa, a Massachusetts native, picked up a submission win over Sean Soriano back in January in the UFC’s last visit to Boston. He lost his most recent fight though, dropping a split decision to Yair Rodriguez in June. The UFC has been making a lot of roster cuts lately and with Rosa’s 1-2 record inside the Octagon, if he loses this one he could very well be on the chopping block.

Hettes is also likely fighting for his job here, having only won one of his last four. His last win was in 2013 when he submitted Robert Whiteford in England. Since then he’s suffered back to back TKO losses, first to Dennis Bermudez last March, and most recently, Diego Brandao in April.

UFC Fight Night 81 is headlined with a Bantamweight Championship match as TJ Dillashaw defends his title against former champ Dominick Cruz. The event will be held at TD Garden on Jan. 17, 2016.

The UFC Fight Night 81 card now includes:

  • Champ T.J. Dillashaw vs. Dominick Cruz – for bantamweight title
  • Eddie Alvarez vs. Anthony Pettis
  • Travis Browne vs. Matt Mitrione
  • Tim Boetsch vs. Ed Herman
  • Jimy Hettes vs. Charles Rosa
