The UFC has postponed the scheduled light heavyweight between former title challenger Glover Teixeira and Misha Cirkunov after an injury to Teixeira. The bout, which was originally set for UFC Fight Night 119, will now be part of UFC on Fox 26. The card takes place Dec. 16 at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Teixeira is looking to turn things around after falling in two of his last three bouts. Since defeating former champion Rashad Evans at UFC on Fox 19, the Brazilian has defeated Jared Cannonier and lost a pair of bouts against Anthony Johnson and Alexander Gustafsson.
After an extensive winning streak, Teixeira earned a light heavyweight title shot against then-champion Jon Jones. The bout took place in the main event of UFC 172 and Jones took home a decisive decision.
Cirkunov will return to action following his first defeat since 2012. He was riding an eight-fight winning streak but fell via first-round knockout against Volkan Oezdemir at UFC Fight Night 109. Cirkunov joined the UFC in 2015 and won his first four bouts in the promotion against Daniel Jolly, Alex Nicholson, Ion Cutelaba and Nikita Krylov.
The UFC has not announced a main event for UFC on Fox 26 at this time.
