Former featherweight champion Pat Curran returns against John Teixeira at Bellator 184

Former Bellator Champion Pat Curran

Bellator MMA has announced the return of former featherweight champion Pat Curran. He will face John Teixeira at Bellator 184, which takes place Oct. 6 at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Okla.

Curran enters this fight after back-to-back wins over Emmanuel Sanchez and Georgi Karakhanyan that have put him back into title contention. He first won the Bellator featherweight title over Joe Warren in 2012. He defended the belt twice over Patricio Freire and Shahbulat Shamhalaev before falling via decision against Daniel Straus in 2013. Curran then won the title back from Staus the following year. In the first defense of his title reign, he came up short against Patricio Freire and never regained the title.

Teixeira signed with Bellator in 2014. He won his first four fights in the promotion over Scott Cleve, Fabricio Guerreiro, Gleristone Santos and Justin Lawrence. In his last fight, he lost for the first time in over five years against Daniel Weichel at Bellator 177.

In the main event of Bellator 184, bantamweight champion Eduardo Dantas puts his title on the line against Darrion Caldwell.
