Brandon Halsey

Former Bellator middleweight champion Brandon Halsey tries to break out of his three-fight losing streak as he returns to M-1 Challenge to fight Russian prospect Mikhail Ragozin.  M-1 Challenge 83 takes place September 23rd in Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia with a webcast through the promotion’s website.

9-3 Brandon Halsey spent most of his MMA career in Bellator were he went 7-2.  In that time Halsey defeated Alexander Shlemenko for the middleweight title but was stripped in his first title defense for missing weight, a fight he ended up winning with a TKO of UFC vet Kendall Grove.  Halsey went on the lost to Rafael Carvalho to regain the vacant belt then lost to John Salter in June 2016 bringing an end to his career in the second-largest promotion.  One year later in June 2017 Halsey made his M-1 Challegne debut with a loss to Shlemenko in a rematch by submission to body kicks and punches.  8-2 Mikhail Ragozin made his M-1 Challenge debut in May where he defeated Alan Bispo de Santana by TKO while his only loss in eight fights or two years ws to Wallyson Carvalho by KO in August 2016.

The inaugural M-1 Global flyweight title is up for grabs in the co-main event between Aleksander Doskalchuk and Vadim Malygin.  7-1 Doskalchuk’s only loss was to Kevin Petshi in April 2014 while since then he picked up five wins including his M-1 Challenge debut in May over Binh Son Le.  Malygin is more experienced at 11-2, 3-1 in this promotion with a three-fight win streak going into this bout.  Most recently Malygin defeated Fabricio Viegas Sarraff by majority decision in May’s M-1 Challenge 78.
