Eduard Folayang’s first defense of the One Championship lightweight title takes place this weekend at One Championship – Kings of Destiny as he takes on Ev Ting. The event takes place April 21st at the Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines with an iPPV webcast through the promotion’s website.
Eduard Folayang shocked the world when he defeated then-champion Shinya Aoki by TKO in November. Now with a MMA record of 17-5 Folayang has only lost once in the past six fights while the Aoki win was his third in a row. 13-3 Ev Ting has only lost once in his past eight fights while his win streak stands at four in a row, his most recent win being a split decision over Kamal Shalorus in February.
The co-main event features fan favorite Kevin Belingon vs. Toni Tauru. Belingon holds a record of 14-5 with ten of those being in One Championship, unfortunately of those ten in One Belingon went 5-5. Last year Belingon returned from a year off fighting to lose to Bibiano Fernandes then bounced back to defeat Muin Gafurov. 11-4 Toni Tauru once held a ten-fight win streak but hit a three-fight losing snag from July 2015 through October 2016 with his turnaround being a win over Geje Eustaquio in December.
