Charles Oliveira will return to the Octagon this winter after an injury stopped his last fight. The UFC has announced that “Do Bronx” will face Myles Jury at UFC on Fox 17, which takes place Dec. 19 at the Amway Center in Orlando.
Oliveira appeared to injury his neck less than two minutes into his fight with Max Holloway. The bout was the headliner of UFC Fight Night 74. The injury defeat stopped a four-fight winning streak for the Brazilian that dated back to February 2014. During his time in the UFC, Oliveira has scored victories over the likes of Nik Lentz, Jeremy Stephens, TUF winner Efrain Escudero and former SRC champion Hatsu Hioki.
Jury will drop down to featherweight for the first time. In his last fight, he suffered defeat for the first time in his professional career against Donald Cerrone. After two unsuccessful stints on “The Ultimate Fighter” Jury made his UFC debut at the TUF 15 Finale card. He won his first six fights inside the Octagon before running into Cerrone. He holds signature victories over TUF winner Diego Sanchez and former Pride FC champion Takanori Gomi.
In the main event of UFC on Fox 17, lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos will look to defend his title against Cerrone. Dos Anjos previously defeated the Greg Jackson protege in 2013 via unanimous decision.
