Heavyweight sluggers Derrick Lewis (17-4) and Travis Browne (18-5-1) are slated to square off at UFC 208 in February. News of the matchup was announced on Thursday.
UFC 208 will be held Feb. 11 from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. Men’s and women’s featherweight championships are expected to headline the card as Jose Aldo defends his belt against interim champ Max Holloway, and Holly Holm takes on Germaine de Randamie for the inaugural women’s 145-pound title.
Lewis is coming off a fourth round TKO finish of Shamil Abdurakhimov at UFC Fight Night 102 last weekend and he called out Browne after the fight. “The Black Beast” is currently riding a five-five winning streak that includes knockouts of Viktor Pesta, Damian Grabowski, Gabriel Gonzaga, and a split decision over “Big Country” Roy Nelson. Lewis is currently ranked No. 9 in the division.
Browne was beaten in his last two fights by former champions. In September he dropped a unanimous decision in a rematch against Fabricio Werdum, and before that, he was stopped by Cain Velasquez in July. Browne started off 2016 with a bang though when he scored a third round TKO over Matt Mitrione in January. “Hapa” holds the No. 10 spot on the UFC’s official heavyweight rankings and has finished 14 of his 18 career wins via knockout.
With this addition, UFC 208 now includes:

- Women’s Featherweight Championship: Germaine de Randamie vs. Holly Holm
- Travis Browne vs. Derrick Lewis
- Jared Cannonier vs. Glover Teixeira
