Multiple media outlets have reported that the UFC has added a heavyweight fight between Curtis Blaydes and Daniel Omielanczuk to the upcoming UFC 213. The card takes place July 8 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Blaydes most recent victory over Adam Milstead was later changed to a “no contest” by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation due to a positive test for marijuana. Blaydes holds a 6-1 record as a professional and joined the UFC in 2016. He dropped his debut against Francis Ngannou. Following that defeat, Blaydes got back on track with back-to-back wins over Cody East and Milstead.
Omielanczuk signed with the UFC in 2014. He won four of his first six bouts in the Octagon including wins over Jarjis Danho and Oleksiy Oliynyk. However, since defeating Oliynyk he has dropped back-to-back bouts against Stefan Struve and Timothy Johnson.
In the main event of UFC 213, UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt will defend his title against former champion T.J. Dillashaw. The two recently coached against each other of the 25th season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” which is currently airing on Fox Sports 1.
