Longtime UFC veteran Clay Guida (32-17) is returning to the lightweight division to face Erik Koch (15-4) at UFC Fight Night 112. The matchup was announced Wednesday evening on FS1’s “UFC Tonight” broadcast.
UFC Fight Night 112 will take place June 25 from Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Okla. An official main event for the card is yet to be announced.
Guida returns to the 155-pound division for the first time since 2012 following a two-fight skid in his most recent outings at featherweight. Guida was stopped by Brian Ortega via KO at UFC 199 in June of last year. And prior to that he suffered a 39-second submission loss to Thiago Tavares in November 2015. Guida has finished half of his 32 career wins by submission and four by knockout.
Koch had also been competing at featherweight but returned to the 155-pound division in February 2014 with a first round TKO over Rafaello Oliveira at UFC 170. He then suffered a TKO loss to Daron Cruickshank in May 2014 year and spent the rest of the year and all of 2015 on the shelf dealing with injuries. Koch returned to action in May 2016 with a submission win over Shane Campbell at UFC Fight Night 88. The 28-year-old Roufusport product has scored eight of his 15 wins by knockout and four by submission.
