Cerrone vs. Till to clash in Poland
Welterweights Donald Cerrone (32-9, 1 NC) and Darren Till (15-0-1) are expected to clash at UFC Fight Night 118 next month. The bout announcement was reported this week.
UFC Fight Night 118 will be held on Oct. 21 from Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland. Though not yet official, Cerrone and Till are expected to headline the card.
Cerrone is presently ranked No. 6 in the 170-pound division, though after a 4-0 start at welterweight, he has dropped his last two outings. “Cowboy” last fought in July when he lost a unanimous decision to Robbie Lawler at UFC 214. Prior to that he was stopped by Jorge Masvidal via TKO in January.
After losing a lightweight title bid against Rafael dos Anjos in Dec. 2015, Cerrone moved down to welterweight where he put together a four-fight run that included a submission win over Alex Oliveira followed by knockout victories over Patrick Cote, Rick Story and Matt Brown.
Till remains unbeaten in his professional career and is 3-0 with 1 Draw inside the octagon. The 24-year-old Brit is coming off a unanimous decision win over Bojan Velickovic at UFC Fight Night 115 last weekend. And back in May he scored a unanimous decision over Jessin Ayari though he came in five pounds overweight for the fight.
The “Liverpudlian” made a successful UFC debut in May 2015 with a KO victory over Wendell de Oliveira, then fought to a Draw against Nicolas Dalby just five months later. Following that Till was sidelined for 18 months due to a shoulder injury and personal issues before making his return earlier this year.
