Carvalho KOs Sakara in 0:44 to defend MW title at Bellator 190

Forty-four seconds was all Bellator middleweight champion Rafael Carvalho needed to KO UFC vet Alessio Sakara and defend the belt.  Bellator 190 took place December 9th at the Nelson Mandela Forum in Florence, Italy with a main card broadcast on Spike TV.

Not much can be said about the main event as Rafael Carvalho.  After the initial onslaught Sakara back away to the cage giving Sakara amble room to run in for a flying knee followed by a right elbow that knocked Sakara down with one punch on the ground all that was needed to halt the fight.  Carvalho’s third defense of the belt elevated his record to 15-1 with six wins in Bellator, Sakara fell to 19-12.

The co-main event wasn’t much longer as Brandon Girtz KO’d Luka Jelcic at the 1:57 mark.  Girtz landed three uppercuts that floored Jelcic while two hammer-fists on the ground ended the fight.  Girtz improved to 15-7 with this his first win in two years, Jelcic dropped to 10-3 with his four-fight win streak broken.

Bellator have one more event scheduled for 2016, another co-promotion with BAMMA.  Headlining the Bellator portion on the card is Michael McDonald vs. Peter Ligier.
