Former bantamweight title challengers Liz Carmouche (11-5) and Alexis Davis (18-7) are moving down to flyweight for a showdown at UFC Fight Night 123. UFC officials confirmed the booking this week.
UFC Fight Night 123 will be held Dec. 9 from Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif. It will be the organization’s first visit to Fresno. A main event for the card has yet to be announced.
Carmouche is currently riding a two-fight winning streak, most recently earning a split decision over Katlyn Chookagian at UFC 205 last November. And prior to that “Girl-Rilla” had bested Lauren Murphy with a unanimous decision in April 2015.
Carmouche and Davis previously fought at 135-pounds at a UFC “Fight for the Troops” event in Nov. 2013 which saw Davis get the unanimous decision nod. Now 3-3 inside the octagon, Carmouche has finished six of her 11 career wins via knockout and two by submission.
Davis peeled off a trio of wins in her first three octagon appearances but has been up-and-down since. “Ally-Gator” last fought in April when she won a unanimous decision over Cindy Dandois at UFC Fight Night 108. She had previously been submitted by Sara McMann last December.
Davis has also posted UFC wins over the likes of Sarah Kaufman, Jessica Eye and Rosi Sexton. Now 5-2 inside the octagon, the 32-year-old BJJ black belt has finished eight of her 18 career wins via submission and two by knockout.
