World Series of Fighting has announced the next challenger for Blagoy Ivanov’s heavyweight title. The promotion has selected UFC veteran Shawn Jordan for the fight, which will be part of WSOF 35 on Feb. 25 in Las Vegas. A venue for the event is expected to be announced in the near future.
Ivanov signed with WSOF in 2014 and won the promotion’s heavyweight title in his first fight. He bested Smealinho Rama for the belt at WSOF 21. Since then, he has defended the title over Derrick Mehmen and Josh Copeland. From 2011-2014, Ivanov went 6-1 under the Bellator banner including victories over Lavar Johnson and Rich Hale.
Jordan went 6-4 in the UFC from 2012-2015 after coming over in the Strikeforce merger. He left the promotion following a loss to Ruslan Magomedov at UFC 192. In his last fight, he made his WSOF debut and scored a first-round knockout over Ashley Gooch. During his career, he has picked up signature wins over Pat Barry, Mike Russow and Derrick Lewis.
This bout will serve as the main event of WSOF 35. At this time, no other bouts have been announced for the card.
