Bellator to crown inaugural flyweight champion in bout between Ilima-Lei Macfarlane and Emily Ducote
Bellator has announced a women’s flyweight fight between Ilima-Lei Macfarlane and Emily Ducote to determine the promotion’s inaugural flyweight champion. The bout will be part of Bellator 186, which takes place Nov. 3 at the Bryce Jordan Center in University Park, Pa.
Last year Macfarlane and Ducote fought on the main card of Bellator 167. After three rounds, Macfarlane took the decision victory to remain undefeated. Since that fight, she returned at Bellator 178 and scored a first-round submission victory over Jessica Middleton. The Hawaiian fighter has had five of her six professional fights come under the Bellator banner, and she has competed exclusively for the promotion since making her debut in 2015.
Since losing against Macfarlane, Ducote has bounced back with a pair of victories. She defeated Katy Collins via first-round submission at Bellator 174 and returned at Bellator 181 and took home a decision over Middleton. With the victories, her professional record improved to 6-2.
In the main event of Bellator 186, Bellator light heavyweight champion Ryan Bader will put his title on the line against Linton Vassell.
