Alex Garcia vs. Tim Means booked for UFC Fight Night 112
A welterweight matchup between Alex Garcia (14-3) and “The Dirty Bird” Tim Means (26-8-1) is set to go down at UFC Fight Night 112 next month. The organization recently announced the fight.
UFC Fight Night 112 will be held June 25 from Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Okla. The main event features a lightweight showdown between Michael Chiesa and Kevin Lee.
Garcia is coming off a first-round “Performance of the Night” KO victory over veteran Mike Pyle at UFC 207 in December. Prior to that, “The Dominican Nightmare” was stopped by Sean Strickland via TKO at UFC Fight Night 83 in February of last year. Garcia is 4-2 inside the octagon since making his UFC debut in December 2013, and also holds wins over Ben Wall, Sean Spencer and Mike Swick. Fighting out of Tristar Gym in Montreal, Garcia has finished six of his 14 wins by knockout and five by submission.
Means last fought in March when he was submitted by Alex Oliveira in a rematch at UFC Fight Night 106. The two had previously fought in December but the bout was stopped in the first round and ruled a No Contest when Means landed two illegal knees that left Oliveira unable to continue. Prior to his back-to back fights with Oliveira, “The Dirty Bird” had scored knockout victories over Sabah Homasi and John Howard. Now on his second stint in the organization, Means is 8-5 inside the octagon overall. Eighteen of his 26 wins have been by knockout and four by submission.
