Less than a week after picking up a victory, Al Iaquinta already has his next fight scheduled. The UFC announced that he will face Jorge Masvidal at UFC Fight Night 63. The card takes place April 4 at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va.
This past weekend Iaquinta scored a second-round knockout victory over veteran Joe Lauzon. The win was Serra-Long Fight Team product’s third straight victory. Since falling in the finale of the 15th season of “The Ultimate Fighter” Iaquinta has gone 6-1 inside the UFC.
Masvidal is also riding a three-fight winning streak. Since moving to the UFC from Strikeforce, he has gone 5-1. Over the course of his career, he has picked up victories over former IFL champion Ryan Schultz, former Sengoku champion Satoru Kitaoka and former Elite XC champion KJ Noons.
In 2011, Masvidal challenged Gilbert Melendez for the Strikeforce lightweight title but dropped a five-round decision.
In the main event of UFC Fight Night 63, featherweight contenders Chad Mendes and Ricardo Lamas will face off.
